Liverpool FC fall behind AC Milan in race to sign German attacker – report
Liverpool FC are interested in a deal for Max Meyer but the German forward is eyeing a move to AC Milan, according to a report
Max Meyer wants to move to AC Milan this summer despite interest from Arsenal and Liverpool FC, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media website Calciomercato, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Meyer has his heart set on a move to Serie A giants AC Milan in the current transfer window.
The same article states that Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp has been keeping a close eye on Meyer’s situation with view to a possible swoop ahead of the new Premier League season.
According to the same story, the Germany international was initially close to a move to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim but Meyer has now decided to pursue a switch to AC Milan.
However, Calciomercato go on to claim that a move to Serie A would still be a surprise given Hoffenheim’s interest in Meyer and the possibility of a switch to Liverpool FC.
The Merseyside outfit’s Premier League rivals Arsenal have also been touted as a potential destination for Meyer in the current transfer window.
The German forward will be a free agent on 1 July when his contract with Schalke 04 expires.
Liverpool FC signed Cameroon international Joel Matip in a free transfer from Schalke in the 2016 summer transfer window.
