The 24-year-old midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent days as Jurgen Klopp looks to try and bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Fekir has been in fine form for Lyon in recent seasons and his transfer to Liverpool FC was thought to be close to going through last week, but it is yet to be confirmed.
Umtiti and Fekir are both set to feature for France at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, and the FC Barcelona defender has told his team-mate that it is best for him to try and resolve his future sooner rather than later.
Speaking at a news conference on France duty on Friday, Umtiti said: “The situation of Nabil? I did not talk to him about it.
“It’s better to fix it yourself. I just hope it will be before the World Cup.”
Liverpool FC are aiming to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term as they sealed Champions League qualification.
However, they missed out on a trophy when they were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final last month.
