The Reds forward has enjoyed an incredible season at Liverpool FC following his £39m move to the Anfield outfit from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Salah scored 32 goals in 36 games in the Premier League last season to finish at the top of the goal-scoring charts ahead of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
The Egypt international’s tally eclipsed Ronaldo’s 31 goals in the 2007-08 Premier League campaign to underline his impressive debut season at the Merseyside outfit.
The African forward won the PFA player of the year following his incredible goal-scoring heroics for Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Salah netted 10 times to help Liverpool FC reach the Champions League final before he suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of their 3-1 loss to Ronaldo and Real Madrid.
Asked whether Salah is a contender to win the next Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo said:
“Many people talk about the Cristiano Ronaldo-Messi battle but there are other players who have chances to enter the race. The Egyptian is one of them.”
Lionel Messi and Ronaldo have shared the Ballon d’Or award in the last 10 seasons.
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
