Virgil van Dijk is already relishing the chance to help Liverpool FC win silverware next season.

The Reds signed the Netherlands international in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton in the January transfer window.

Van Dijk became the world’s most expensive defender following his move to Liverpool FC after months of speculation.

The Dutch defender helped to improve the Liverpool FC defence in the second half of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.

Van Dijk helped Liverpool FC to reach the Champions League for the first time since 2005 when the Reds beat AC Milan on penalties.

The Merseyside outfit lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev after Loris Karius made two mistakes.

Van Dijk is already excited about Liverpool FC’s potential to secure success next season.

Van Dijk wrote on his Instagram page: “I just want to thank everyone for all of your amazing support this season.

“It’s meant a lot to me and I really appreciate all of the messages I’ve received throughout the campaign. I’m already excited about next season and the challenges that lie ahead for club and country.

“I’ll be working as hard as I can to help achieve success. For now though, it’s time for a holiday to relax and recharge. See you all soon 😁”
