Raphael Honigstein believes Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir will add more flexibility to the Liverpool FC team.

The Reds are in the market to sign a France international in the summer transfer window to add more depth to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Fekir has netted 18 times and has made eight assists in 29 games in Ligue 1 to help Lyon finish in third place in the French top flight.

The 24-year-old has come through the youth ranks at Lyon and has netted 57 times in 153 games in all competitions over the past five seasons.

The Lyon star has also netted two goals in 11 appearances for the France national team to build a promising reputation.

He was named the Ligue 1 young player of the year in 2014-15 and made the Ligue 1 team of the year in 2015 and 2018.

Bundesliga expert Honigstein shed light on Liverpool FC’s pursuit of the France international in the summer transfer window.

“He is a great player,” Honigstein told ESPN FC.

“He was the star of the Lyon team with Lacazette before his move to Arsenal. He has beniiftted from that move.

“He has found more freedom from a deeper position behind the centre-forward. He is a shadow striker. Liverpool don’t have a player in that position.

“That’s why Liverpool are buying him. He will give them more flexibility.”

Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second spot in 2002, 2009 and 2014.

The Reds secured a top-four finish thanks to a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last month.

Liverpool FC goalkeeper made two mistakes in a 3-1 loss to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League showpiece.
