Reporter gives update on Nabil Fekir to Liverpool FC transfer after statement
Nabil Fekir is still keen on a move to Liverpool FC this summer, according to David Maddock
Nabil Fekir still wants to sign for Liverpool FC this summer but a move from Lyon is now looking unlikely, according to reporter David Maddock.
The 24-year-old attacker was widely thought to be closing in on a move to Anfield this summer after he was heavily linked with a transfer to the Premier League club in recent days.
There had even been reports that Fekir had undergone a medical in France ahead of his proposed move to the Premier League club, only for the deal to apparently fall through.
Lyon issued a statement on Saturday claiming that there would be no deal and that Fekir would remain at the Ligue 1 club for next season.
However, Daily Mirror reporter Maddock has insisted that Fekir could still end up being a Liverpool FC player this summer given that the transfer window is far from over.
Maddock wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool position as things stand: there will be no deal.
“That implies Lyon position must change for Fekir to get his move. He still wants @LFC though, and still two months before transfer window closes. So time to negotiate new position.”
Liverpool FC completed their first summer signing earlier in the window when they tied up a deal to bring Brazilian midfielder Fabinho to Anfield from Monaco.
The Reds are looking to build a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season after their fifth-placed finish this term.
