Liverpool FC setback in bid to sign Real Madrid starlet – report
Marco Asensio has no plans to leave Real Madrid amid reported interest from Liverpool FC, say reports
Marco Asensio has no intention of leaving Real Madrid to sign for Liverpool FC this summer, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Spanish newspaper AS, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the 22-year-old forward wants to stay at Real Madrid and a move to Liverpool FC is looking unlikely.
The Reds have been credited with a strong interest in signing Asensio in recent days as Jurgen Klopp looks to try and add some more firepower to his squad ahead of next season.
However, it is claimed in the same report that the player himself has no intention of leaving, and that Real Madrid will not listen to offers for the Spain international, who is currently on duty at the World Cup.
There had been claims that Real Madrid could be willing to cash-in on Asensio in a bid to fund their move to try and sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
But if the latest reports in Spain are to believed, that scenario is looking pretty unlikely.
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC officially confirmed Naby Keita as a Reds player on Wednesday.
The Guinea international will become the first player to wear the number eight shirt for the Reds since Steven Gerrard’s departure from the club back in 2015.
