Insider reveals numbers behind Emre Can’s Liverpool FC exit
Emre Can will earn around £220,000 a week at Juventus after his move from Liverpool FC, says David Maddock
Emre Can will be earning around £220,000 a week at Juventus after his move from Liverpool FC, according to reporter David Maddock.
The 24-year-old was finally confirmed as a Juventus player on Thursday after months of speculation linking him with a move to the Italian club.
Can joins Juventus on a free transfer after Liverpool FC were unable to reach an agreement to extend the Germany international’s contract beyond this summer.
The German midfielder is understood to have pocketed a hefty signing-on fee following his move from Liverpool FC because he was out of contract.
Now, Daily Mirror reporter Maddock has underlined the significance of the wages that Can will be earning at Juventus following his transfer to the Italian club.
Maddock wrote on Twitter: “Anyone wondering why Emre Can left @LFC for Juventus: he will be earning a minimum £11m a year for the first two years of a four year contract in Italy.
“That’s £220,000 a week, which would have made him Liverpool’s highest earner. By some distance.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as the Reds look to try and build a squad capable of winning the title next season.
The Reds have already confirmed the capture of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to revamp his team.
Liverpool FC will be aiming to challenge for the title next season after the Reds finished fourth and reached the FA Cup final last term.
