Liverpool FC and Lyon have been handed a boost in the race to sign Ajax star Hakim Ziyech after AS Roma hesitated over a deal, according to reports in Italy.

Italian outlet Calciomercato, as quoted by Football Italia, is reporting that Roma are reconsidering their position after having been leading the race to sign the 25-year-old.

According to the same report, that has allowed the likes of Liverpool FC and Lyon to enter the race to sign the Morocco international this summer.

The same story says that Ajax have already confirmed that Ziyech would be leaving the Amsterdam club this summer.

It is being claimed that Roma’s delay has allowed Ziyech to look around at other options, and that both Liverpool FC and Lyon are interested in deals.

Liverpool FC are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to try and build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League next season.

The Reds ended up in fourth place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy after they were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final back in May.
