Liverpool FC keeping tabs on 19-year-old Lyon starlet – report
Liverpool FC are keen on signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar this summer, say reports in France
Liverpool FC are monitoring Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar during the summer transfer window, according to reports in France.
French outlet RMC, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Reds are pondering a move to try and sign the 19-year-old midfielder, despite him apparently closing in on signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 club.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC retain a “strong interest” in signing Aouar this summer, but he is also reported to be close to penning a new five-year deal with Lyon.
FC Barcelona are among the other teams said to have expressed an interest in signing Aouar in the past.
Liverpool FC confirmed their first signing of the summer last week when they announced a deal to bring Brazilian midfielder Fred to Anfield from Monaco.
The Reds are looking to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season after they ended up in fourth place this term and without a trophy.
Jurgen Klopp’s side ended the season in disappointing fashion when they were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final Kiev at the end of May.
They are still searching for their first major trophy under the German boss since his appointment back in October 2015.
