Liverpool FC are lining up a big-money bid to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Spanish newspaper Marca, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Reds are prepared to splash out as much as £158m to try and bring the 22-year-old forward to Anfield this summer.
The same report claims that the Merseyside outfit have been tracking Asensio’s progress for the last few years and that they are finally ready to make their move this summer.
The story also reports that Liverpool FC are prepared to make the Spain international one the highest-paid players at Anfield in order to convince him to move to the Merseyside outfit.
According to the same story, Real Madrid have put talks with Asensio about his future on hold until after his involvement in the World Cup with Spain in Russia.
Liverpool FC are thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to build a team capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The Reds have already completed their first signing of the summer after having tied up a deal to bring Brazilian midfielder Fabinho in from Monaco.
