Liverpool FC now looking at other transfer targets instead of 24-year-old, says insider
Ian McGarry delivers the latest update on Liverpool FC's link to sign Nabil Fekir this summer
Liverpool FC have turned their attentions elsewhere in the summer transfer window after their failed pursuit of Nabil Fekir, according to Ian McGarry.
The Reds had been strongly linked with a move to bring the 24-year-old Lyon attacker to Anfield this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his attacking options following Philippe Coutinho’s exit to FC Barcelona back in January.
Indeed, Liverpool FC were widely reported to be closing in on a move to sign Fekir from Lyon last weekend, only for the proposed transfer to seemingly fall through.
Lyon then issued a statement claiming that Fekir would definitely be staying at Anfield beyond the summer transfer window.
Now, transfer insider McGarry has confirmed that the Reds are now looking at other possible transfer targets following their failed pursuit of Fekir.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, football consultant McGarry said: “Liverpool have moved on from it.
“If they aren’t going to get the player for a price that is economically correct based on the medical, they would rather look elsewhere.”
Liverpool FC have already wrapped up their first signing of the summer transfer window by concluding a deal to bring Brazilian midfielder Fabinho to Anfield from Monaco.
The Reds will also be set to welcome Naby Keita to their squad this summer after the deal for him to move to Anfield was confirmed last year.
Liverpool FC finished fourth and reached the Champions League final last season.
