Club president gives latest update on Liverpool FC link to top 24-year-old
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says he wants to keep hold of Liverpool FC target Nabil Fekir
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted that he is determined to keep Liverpool FC target Nabil Fekir at the club this summer.
The Reds were heavily linked with a move to bring the French winger to Anfield earlier this month and they were thought to be close to securing a deal for the attacker before the proposed transfer fell through.
Fekir is no stranger to speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, with the winger having been touted as a target for both Arsenal and Liverpool FC in the past.
Liverpool FC were thought to be winning the race to sign Fekir this summer but it seems that the Reds have suffered a setback in their bid to try and land the France international.
Now, Lyon president Aulas has broken his silence on Fekir’s situation, insisting that the Ligue 1 club will do whatever possible to keep him at the French side.
Aulas is quoted as saying by Metro: “Nabil was very close to a move to Liverpool, but things took too long, he’s such a good player.
“My objective is to make him stay, but if he wants to leave, than we’ll make sure that he gets the right club.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC have only completed one signing so far this summer after having tied up a deal to bring in Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco at the start of the window.
Liverpool FC finished fourth in the Premier League last term.
