Top 24-year-old had selected his Liverpool FC shirt number – report
Liverpool FC offered Nabil Fekir a shirt number before the deal fell through, according to reports
Nabil Fekir had picked a shirt number at Liverpool FC before his proposed transfer from Lyon fell through, according to reports in France.
French newspaper L’Equipe, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Reds were so confident of concluding a deal to sign Fekir this summer that they even asked him to pick a squad number.
The 24-year-old midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Anfield this summer but the proposed transfer fell through over the weekend, with Lyon having announced that Fekir would be staying at the French club beyond the summer.
It is not stated in the story exactly which number Fekir is said to have chosen, but the number 10 is currently available at Anfield.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool FC may be able to resurrect a deal to sign Fekir later in the summer of whether they will have to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
Liverpool FC have already begun their summer recruitment drive by wrapping up a deal to bring Brazilian midfielder Fabinho to Anfield from Monaco at the start of the window.
Jurgen Klopp will be keen to significantly add to his squad this summer as he bids to build a side capable of winning the Premier League next season.
