The Reds are believed to be on the lookout for a number of attacking reinforcements this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to assemble a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
Liverpool FC have already made their first signing of the summer by concluding a deal to bring Brazilian midfielder Fabinho to the club from Monaco last month.
Dembele has been touted as a potential target for Liverpool FC this summer, despite the attacker having only signed for the Catalan side last year.
However, FC Barcelona president Bartomeu has now poured cold water on suggestions that Dembele could be sold by the La Liga side this summer.
Bartomeu is quoted as saying by Metro: “[Philippe] Coutinho, Dembele are for us a big investment.
“They are very important players and we expect a lot from them. Coutinho probably in the last four months has been very active for the team.
“But Dembele is a very young player, a very talented player that we are, of course, expecting a lot from. He’s been demonstrating during the season that he’s a good young player for us.
“But, of course, next season will be different. It’s not easy to play in Barcelona the first year because the model of football is quite different from the rest.
“But after one year I’m sure we are going to see Dembele and Coutinho at a very high level.”
Liverpool FC endured a largely positive season last term as they ended up in fourth place in the Premier League table and reached the Champions League final.
However, their campaign ended on a disappointing note when they were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev last month as they missed out on winning their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp.
