Liverpool FC are lining up a mammoth £158m bid to try and sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish outlet AS, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Reds are keen on a deal to sign Asensio this summer and that they are preparing a big-money bid to try and bring him to Anfield.

The same story says that Jurgen Klopp is a “huge” fan of Asensio and the Liverpool FC boss wants to bring him to Anfield to replace Philippe Coutinho.

The article claims that the Reds are set to step up their pursuit of the 22-year-old Real Madrid starlet after having missed out on a deal to sign Nabil Fekir from Lyon at the start of the transfer window.

According to the same article, Real Madrid want to keep hold of Asensio but they could be tempted into selling if a big-money offer arrives.

That’s because they would then use the funds to pursue a move to try and sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, according to the same report.

Meanwhile, Liverpool FC have only completed one signing so far this summer after having tied up a deal to land Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco.
