Insider claims Liverpool FC ‘unlikely’ to sign top 25-year-old goalkeeper
Liverpool FC aren't close to a deal to sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma, according to a report
Liverpool FC and AS Roma are some way apart in their valuation of Alisson Becker, according to ESPN FC reporter Gabriele Marcotti.
The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev after Loris Karius made two huge mistakes.
The Liverpool FC goalkeeper inadvertently passed the ball to Karim Benzema to allow the France international to break the deadock.
Karius parried Gareth Bale’s long-range shot into his own net to seal Real Madrid’s 13th Champions League crown.
The Merseyside outfit have been linked with a move to sign the Brazil international from AS Roma to improve their goalkeeping options.
Alisson is rated as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe but Liverpool FC could face competition from Champions League winners Real Madrid.
The AS Roma star will be Brazil’s number one at the World Cup ahead of their opener against Switzerland.
ESPN FC reporter Marcotti believes Liverpool FC aren’t close to signing the South American shot stopper in the summer transfer window.
“It is unlikely to get done. There is still some distance between the two clubs,” Marcotti told ESPN FC. “The relationship between the two ownership groups is very close. Both Boston based.”
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second spot in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds secured a top-four finish thanks to a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last month.
