Liverpool FC handed boost after president denies Alisson will join Real Madrid
AS Roma president James Pallotta has shed light on his comments suggesting Liverpool FC target Alisson would move to Real Madrid
AS Roma president James Pallotta has insisted that Alisson Becker hasn’t agreed a deal to become a Real Madrid player.
The American businessman fanned speculation surrounding the AS Roma goalkeeper earlier this week after Pallotta appeared to confirm Alisson was moving to the Champions League winners.
Liverpool FC have been linked with a move to sign the South American goalkeeper in the summer transfer window as Jurgen Klopp looks to address what has become a problem position for the Reds.
However, the Merseyside outfit are thought to be priced out of a move to sign Alisson, while the South American goalkeeper is rumoured to prefer a switch to Real Madrid.
AS Roma president Pallotta has shed light on the current situation involving the Champions League semi-finalist’s prized asset Alisson in the summer transfer market.
“I have read with much amusement the quotes attributed to me about the transfer market,” Pallotta said, as quoted by Marca.
“In fact I was joking around with a group of guys and responded sarcastically with a reference to the popular rumours on Twitter and in the papers since I’ve been in Italy.
“There was nothing serious about anything I said whilst making pizza. Just stupid American humour that some don’t get.”
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last month after Loris Karius made two big mistakes in Kiev to cast doubt on his long-term future.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
Liverpool FC finished in the top four in successive seasons to ensure their continued participation in the Premier League.
