The Reds announced the £39m signing of Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from AS Monaco on Monday last week to start their summer spending spree
Fabinho’s arrival helped to restore the feel good factor at the Anfield outfit after Liverpool FC’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
The 24-year-old helped AS Monaco to win the Ligue 1 title and reach the Champions League semi-finals in the 2016-17 season.
Fabinho was linked with a potential move to Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United over the past 12 months or so.
Reporter Castles explained why he is so impressed with Liverpool FC’s ability to get a deal for Fabinho over the line.
“This is one of the most impressive transfers I have seen from an English club,” Castles told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“It will make a huge difference to Liverpool. Their midfielders have a limitation on their ability or passing ability.
“Fabinho is tall, strong in the air, he scores goals. They have immediately given him a seven or eight points advantage in the title race next year.”
Liverpool FC signed Guinea international Naby Keita in a £48m deal from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the 2017 summer transfer window.
However, Keita spent the 2017-18 season at RB Leipzig but will link up with the Merseyside club this summer.
