Liverpool FC face competition to sign 20-year-old Serie A star – report
Liverpool FC will have to beat AS Roma and Chelsea FC to sign Federico Chiesa this summer, according to a report
Liverpool FC will face competition from AS Roma and Manchester United to sign Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina this summer, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media website Calciomercato.com is reporting that the Reds are interested in a potential summer swoop to sign the 20-year-old playmaker.
However, the articles goes on to suggest that AS Roma are planning to use the funds raised from Alisson Becker’s proposed move to Real Madrid to invest in Chiesa.
Not only will Liverpool FC miss out on what has been widely reported as their top goalkeeper target, but the Reds will have to take on AS Roma in the transfer market to sign the Fiorentina starlet.
The Italian outlet claim that AS Roma have already offered €40m plus Italy international Stephan El Shaarawy but La Viola rejected the bid.
Chiesa scored six times in 38 games in all competitions in the current campaign to underline his undoubted talent.
He made his debut in a 2-1 win against Juventus in their opening game of the 2016-17 Serie A season at the age of 19.
Liverpool FC have already signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £39m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.
