
The Reds are thought to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper following Loris Karius’ disastrous performance in the Champions League final.
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final after Karius made two mistakes in Kiev.
The Merseyside outfit have been regularly linked with a potential swoop to sign AS Roma goalkeeper Loris Karius.
The Reds have also been touted with an interest in Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak in the 2018 summer transfer window.
However, former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson believes the Reds should launch an offer for the England international.
“He’s had a poor season,” Lawrenson told BBC Radio 5 Live. “Maybe this might be the time to take him.
“You’ll have to look around to see how much money they’ve got.
“I don’t think the budget was assigned for the outfield player. He might miss out on an outfield player to get a goalkeeper.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table after the Reds were 4-0 winners against Brighton and Hove Albion in their last game.
The Merseyside outfit finished five points ahead of Chelsea FC in the Premier League table after the Blues lost to Newcastle United.
