Liverpool FC set to rival Chelsea FC for 29-year-old goalkeeper – report
Liverpool FC will rival Chelsea FC for the signing of FC Barcelona number two Jasper Cillessen, according to a report in Spain
Liverpool FC and Chelsea are set to battle it out to sign FC Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that there is Premier League interest in the Netherlands international in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that Liverpool FC are looking to find a permanent candidate to take on the first-choice role in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are already making plans to replace Thibaut Courtois with the Belgian goalkeeper thought to be keen on a return to the Spanish capital this summer.
Cillessen has three years left to run on his current contract with FC Barcelona but the Dutch shot stopper has played second fiddle to Germany international Marc-andre ter Stegen.
Mundo Deportivo are quoted as saying “know that it is difficult to say no to a player who can improve economically and professionally because he would go from substitute to starter.”
Cillessen made one appearance in La Liga and featured in one Champions League game last season.
However, the Dutch goalkeeper did play in nine games in the Copa del Rey to help the Catalan progress to the latter stages of the competition.
