Liverpool FC legend Steve Nicol is adamant Loris Karius won't be sold this simmer
Steve Nicol is adamant that Liverpool FC won’t sell Loris Karius this summer.
The Reds are reportedly in the market to sign a new shot stopper in the summer transfer window following another difficult season for Simon Mignolet and Karius.
The German goalkeeper has been Liverpool FC’s first-choice goalkeeper in the second half of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
Karius made two big mistakes in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win against Liverpool FC in the Champions League final in Kiev last month.
Both Karius and Mignolet have struggled to convince when given the chance to shine Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.
Liverpool FC have been linked with a potential swoop to sign Brazil international Alisson Becker from Serie A giants AS Roma.
Atletico Madrid shot stopper Jan Oblak and Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland have also been linked with the Anfield outfit.
Former Liverpool FC defender Nicol doesn’t believe the Merseyside outfit will offload the German goalkeeper despite his horror show in the Champions League final.
“If he says he needs to go, he is running away,” Nicol told ESPN FC. “He stays at Liverpool.
“Liverpool will keep him. There is zero chance they will transfer list. He will be the back up. Mignolet will go. They must bring in another goalkeeper.”
Liverpool FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table and finished five points ahead of Chelsea FC in the Premier League table.
The Reds will look to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next term.
