Reporter claims Liverpool FC could still sign 24-year-old attacker
Journalist Gabriele Marcotti claims Liverpool FC could still sign Nabil Fekir this summer
Gabriele Marcotti has hinted that Liverpool FC could still sign Nabil Fekir – but insists no deal will happen until after the World Cup.
The Reds were thought to be on a brink of concluding a deal to sign the France international in a big money deal this summer.
According to some reports, Fekir was thought to have flown to Liverpool FC to undergo a medical at their Melwood training ground.
The 24-year-old Lyon captain was even reported to have selected his shirt number at the Merseyside outfit.
However, Liverpool FC got cold feet over a deal for the France attacker due to concerns about a long-standing knee problem.
Lyon announced that Fekir would remain at the French club for next season last weekend to end speculation.
ESPN FC reporter Marcotti claimed that Fekir could still move to Liverpool FC but no deal will happen until after the World Cup.
“Liverpool are entitled to do their due diligence but nothing will happen until after the World Cup now,” Marcotti told ESPN FC.
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
The Reds have already signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from AS Monaco this summer.
