Liverpool FC told to forget about signing top 24-year-old this summer
Lyon say that Liverpool FC target Nabil Fekir will not be going anywhere this summer
Lyon have insisted that Nabil Fekir will not be joining Liverpool FC this summer, despite the constant speculation linking him with a move to Anfield.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder was thought to be closing in on a transfer to Anfield this summer and was even reported to have undergone a medical ahead of the move in recent days.
However, Lyon have now released a statement proclaiming that the France international will not be signing for Liverpool FC and will instead be staying at the Ligue 1 club for next season.
The statement was released on Saturday evening and appears to end the Reds’ hopes of bringing him in as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.
The statement from Lyon read: “Although Liverpool has been the priority of a possible transfer of Nabil… Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to be able to count on the presence of their captain in 2018-2019.”
Liverpool FC will likely be linked with a host of other attacking players in the coming weeks and months as they bid to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
The Reds finished fourth in the table last term as they booked their place in the Champions League for next season under Klopp.
The Merseyside outfit lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final back in May.
