New Liverpool FC signing reveals Jurgen Klopp motivated Naby Keita to make transfer
Naby Keita opens up about the role that Jurgen Klopp played in his transfer to Liverpool FC
Naby Keita has revealed that Jurgen Klopp played a big role in his decision to move to Liverpool FC.
The Guinea international was officially unveiled as a Liverpool FC player on Wednesday evening after Keita finally completed his long-awaited move to the Merseyside outfit.
The African star reached an agreement with Liverpool FC last summer after the Reds finalised a £48m arrangement to sign the 23-year-old at the end of the 2017-17 season.
Keita scored nine times and made seven assists in 39 games in all competitions during his final season at the Bundesliga outfit.
Liverpool FC have handed the Guinea star Steven Gerrard’s prestigious number eight shirt as Keita looks to establish himself in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Klopp was credited with playing a vital role in Liverpool FC’s £75m swoop to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in the 2018 January transfer window.
Keita lifted the lid on the role that Klopp took up in his £48m switch to Anfield.
“I also spoke with the coach, who told me about the project for the team and that motivated me to be here,” Keita told club’s website.
Liverpool FC finished in second place in the Premier League table last season to secure their continued participation in the Champions League.
The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final last month.
