Raphael Honigstein tips Jurgen Klopp to make key Liverpool FC signing
The Bundesliga expert expects Liverpool FC to continue their search for a top goalkeeper this summer
Liverpool FC will continue their pursuit of a world-class goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, Raphael Honigstein claimed.
The Reds have been linked with a move to sign a shot stopper regularly over the past 12 months.
Both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have failed to convince that they are the long-term solution in goal for the Merseyside outfit.
Karius started in the Champions League final last month following an impressive second half of the 2017-18 season.
The German shot stopper made two mistakes in a 3-1 loss to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League showpiece.
Liverpool FC have been linked with a move to sign AS Roma’s Brazil international Alisson Becker in recent months.
The Reds could also target Stoke City shot stopper Jack Butland following the Potters’ relegation to the Championship.
Bundesliga expert Honigstein believes Liverpool FC were already pursuing a new goalkeeper before Karius’ horror show in Kiev.
“I think Liverpool’s quest for a big and imposing [goalkeeper] didn’t start with the Champions League final and it won’t end with it,” Honigstein told ESPN FC.
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second spot in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds secured a top-four finish thanks to a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last month.
