Liverpool FC are looking at Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqriri as an alternative to Nabil Fekir, according to a report
Liverpool FC are set to prioritise signing Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer transfer window, according to a report in England.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that the Reds have made Shaqiri their top target in the remaining months of the current transfer market.
The Merseyside outfit were thought to be close to a deal to sign France international Nabil Fekir from Ligue 1 side Lyon over the past week.
However, the proposed deal fell through to end Liverpool FC’s pursuit of the exciting Lyon playmaker.
The same article claims that Jurgen Klopp wants to improve his options in attacking midfield to provide cover for Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
According to the same story, Shaqiri fits the bill following Stoke’s relegation to the Championship.
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure their continued participation in the Premier League.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
Klopp will be tasked with helping the Reds to end their long wait to get their hands on the Premier League trophy.
