Liverpool FC will have to see off competition from AC Milan to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Gazzetto dello Sport, as quoted by talkSPORT, is reporting that AC Milan are ready to launch a bid to sign the Germany international.
The same article states that the Serie A giants are waiting to see whether Liverpool FC launch a bid to sign the the highly rated Bundesliga striker.
According to the same story, AC Milan want Werner to bolster their attacking options following a difficult season under caretaker manager Gennaro Gattuso.
The Italian club finished in sixth place in the Serie A table to miss out on a Champions League spot once again but qualify for the Europa League.
Liverpool FC, on the other hand, would be able to offer Werner the chance to play in the Champions League next season following their fourth-placed finish.
Furthermore, the Reds will welcome Werner’s team-mate Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer after Liverpool FC agreed to a £48m deal in 2017.
Werner scored 42 times in 77 games in all competitions during two seasons at RB Leipzig following his move from Stuttgart in 2016.
