The Daily Star is reporting that the Reds view the Switzerland international as a potential signing capable of improving Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.
The same article states that Jurgen Klopp wants Shaqiri to take the pressure of his front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC will face competition from their bitter Merseyside rivals Everton in the summer transfer window.
Shaqiri scored eight goals and made seven assists in 36 appearances in the Premier League last season as the Swiss playmaker was unable to help Stoke avoid relegation to the Championship.
The Daily Star claim that the Reds could also face competition from Serie A giants AS Roma, who are keen to land the former Inter Milan star.
Liverpool FC, though, could be forced to wait until after the World Cup as Shaqiri prepares to feature in the major tournament in Russia.
The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final last month after Salah suffered an injury problem in the first half.
