Liverpool FC cool interest in 26-year-old Premier League star – report
Liverpool FC won't be signing Stoke City attacker Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer transfer window, according to a report
Liverpool FC have cooled their interest in Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqiri, according to a report in England.
Sky Sports, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to forget about signing Shaqiri and look at other targets in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that the Reds are unlikely to activate Shaqiri’s £12.5m contract release clause following the Switzerland international’s relegation to the Championship with Stoke.
According to the same story, the Liverpool FC boss is ready to switch his focus to other targets despite previously being linked with a swoop to sign the 26-year-old.
Shaqiri scored eight goals in 36 games in the Premier League last term but the Swiss star couldn’t prevent the Potters from suffering relegation.
Stoke signed the 26-year-old in a £12m deal from Serie A side Inter Milan in 2015 and the Potters are thought to be eager to recoup that fee.
Liverpool FC have been left frustrated in their pursuit of Nabil Fekir after the France international’s medical shed light on some issues which caused the deal to collapse.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure their continued participation in the Champions League next term.
