Pundit replies when asked if Liverpool FC need to sign Xherdan Shaqiri
Arsenal legend Stewart Robson believes Xherdan Shaqiri would be a good squad player at Liverpool FC
Xherdan Shaqiri would be a good addition to the Liverpool FC squad, Stewart Robson believes.
The Switzerland international has been linked with a potential move to the Merseyside outfit over the past few weeks.
Shaqiri scored eight goals in 36 games in the Premier League last term but the Swiss star couldn’t prevent the Potters from suffering relegation.
Stoke signed the 26-year-old in a £12m deal from Serie A side Inter Milan in 2015 and the Potters are thought to be eager to recoup that fee.
Liverpool FC have been left frustrated in their pursuit of Nabil Fekir after the France international’s medical shed light on some issues.
Former Arsenal star Robson believes Shaqiri wouldn’t be first choice at Liverpool FC but the attacker would be a valuable squad player.
“I can’t see him getting into the team,” Robson told ESPN FC. “I can see him being a squad player coming on.
“On his day, he can give you something different to Lallana. He could do a job if Firmino or Salah are injured.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League to end their third successive season without silverware under Jurgen Klopp.
