Man United fall behind Serie A giants in race to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – report
Manchester United are set to fall behind Juventus in the race to sign Lazio star Sergej Milnkovic-Savic this summer, according to a report
Manchester United have fallen behind Serie A champions Juventus in the race to sign Serbia international Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer transfer window, according to a report.
Italian media outlet Tuttosport, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that the Italian champions are ready to meet Milinkovic-Savic’s release clause of £87.5m (€100m).
The same article states that Marouane Fellaini has a key role to play in the deal given his current situation at the Old Trafford outfit.
The Belgium international is set to become a free agent this summer after he failed to agree to a new deal with the Red Devils.
If the 30-year-old leaves the 20-time English champions in the summer transfer window, Jose Mourinho will be forced to revaluate his options in the middle of the park.
According to the same story, Milinkovic-Savic would prefer to move to Juventus rather than Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Lazio star has become one of the hottest properties in European football following a return of 14 goals and six assists in 43 games in all competitions last term.
Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge.
