Toby Alderweireld gives update on his future amid Man United links
Toby Alderweireld insists that he could end up staying at Tottenham despite being linked with a move to Man United
Toby Alderweireld has refused to rule out the possibility of staying at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the summer transfer window as he continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
The Belgian defender has been strongly linked with a transfer to Old Trafford this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to shore up his options at the back ahead of next season.
The 29-year-old struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Tottenham last season and that prompted speculation that he could be on his way out of White Hart Lane this summer.
His current contract is set to expire in 2020, but Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move to bring him to Old Trafford.
However, the player himself has now admitted that he could end up staying with the Lilywhites despite the speculation to the contrary.
When asked if he could end up staying at Spurs, Alderweireld told a news conference while on international duty with Belgium: “Yeah, why not?.
“I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen.”
Manchester United have already signed two new players this summer after having wrapped up deals for both Diogo Dalot and Fred.
Mourinho will be hoping to build a side capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
