Reporter gives update on Man United interest in signing 27-year-old Brazilian
Duncan Castles delivers the latest update on Man United's reported interest in signing Alex Sandro this summer
Manchester United still have an interest in signing Alex Sandro from Juventus this summer, but the Red Devils don’t want to match the Italian club’s £60m asking price, according to reporter Duncan Castles.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move to bring the left-back to Old Trafford this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his options at full-back ahead of next season.
However, the latest reports in the British media have suggested that the Red Devils have in fact cooled their interest in Sandro after Manchester United secured the signing of full-back Diogo Dalot from FC Porto last week.
Nevertheless, Sunday Times reporter Castles claims that Manchester United do indeed still have an interest in signing Sandro this summer, but they are not willing to pay £60m to bring the 27-year-old to Old Trafford.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, reporter Castles said: “They [Manchester United] don’t have significant competition [for Sandro] at present.
“There isn’t another club willing to pay £60m. They are letting it known that they have cooled their interest. It’s a classic transfer situation. One is asking for too much money.”
Manchester United have brought in both Dalot and Brazilian midfielder Fred so far this summer as they look to assemble a team capable of winning the title next season.
The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League and lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea FC last season.
