Marouane Fellaini met with Arsenal's head of recruitment Sven Mislintat before opting to stay at Man United, say reports
Marouane Fellaini met with Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat before opting to sign a new contract at Manchester United, according to reports in the British media.
The Times, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that Fellaini has agreed a new two year contract at Old Trafford with wages of around £100,000 a week.
Fellaini’s future had been a source of speculation in recent months due to the fact that his deal was set to expire this summer.
Arsenal are thought to have been interested in signing the 30-year-old Belgium international and the same report says that the midfielder met with Gunners officials to discuss a potential move.
However, the midfielder decided against a move away from Old Trafford and instead opted to stay and fight for a place in Jose Mourinho’s first team, according to the same story.
Fellaini started for Belgium as the Red Devils claimed a 1-0 win over England in their final group game at the World Cup in Russia on Thursday night.
England will take on Colombia in the round of 16 on Tuesday night as they look to try and make it through to the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are thought to still be on the lookout for a number of new signings as they prepare for next season.
