Danny Rose is set for a big disappointment after Manchester United ended their interest in signing the Tottenham Hotspur full-back this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Rose was keen on a big-money move to Old Trafford this summer, with the full-back eyeing a £50m switch to Manchester United after the World Cup.

However, the same report says that the move now looks highly unlikely after Jose Mourinho shelved his plans to sign a new full-back this summer.

According to the same article, Mourinho has suspended Manchester United’s interest in Rose after the Red Devils tied up a deal to bring Diogo Dalot to Old Trafford last week.

The same story says that Mourinho has instructed Old Trafford chiefs to focus on other areas of their squad in the summer transfer market – namely bringing in a new central defender.

The article says that Manchester United could revive their interest in Rose, but only if Luke Shaw leaves or if they fail in bids to bring other players to Old Trafford this summer.

Mourinho is aiming to build a team capable of winning the Premier League title next season, with the Red Devils having ended up second and without a trophy last term.
