Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk this week, according to reports in the British media.
BBC Sport is reporting that the Red Devils are closing in on a deal to bring the 25-year-old midfielder to Old Trafford as they look to wrap up their first signing of the summer.
The same report says that the Brazil international is scheduled to undergo a medical with the Red Devils as they look to conclude their first recruit of the summer.
According to the same story, Manchester United are likely to pay Shakhtar Donetsk a transfer fee in the region of £52m to secure Fred’s services this summer.
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a number of top signings this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to significantly bolster his squad ahead of next season.
The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League and without a trophy in Mourinho’s second campaign in charge.
They will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next term as they look to try and lift the trophy for the first time since 2013.
Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month.
