The Brazilian midfielder was finally unveiled as a Manchester United player after his move from Shakhtar Donetsk was officially confirmed by the Premier League club.
The 25-year-old will now be hoping to immediately break into the Manchester United team next season as he bids to help Jose Mourinho’s men to win the Premier League title.
Fred will be looking to help strengthen the Red Devils as they aim to try and challenge Manchester City’s dominance at the top of the Premier League next term.
Now, in his first interview since completing his move from Shakhtar Donetsk, Fred has spoken about his delight at finally completing his transfer to the Old Trafford club.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website, Fred said: “This is the biggest club in the world and I am delighted to be a part of this amazing team.
“To work with Jose Mourinho, who has won so many trophies in his time as a coach, is an opportunity not to be missed.
”I cannot wait to get started and to meet my new team-mates. I would like to thank everyone at Shakhtar Donetsk for everything they have done for me over the past five years.
“This is a very exciting time for me with my focus now fully on the World Cup with Brazil.”
Fred becomes Manchester United’s second official signing of the summer transfer window after he arrived at Old Trafford following the capture of Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.
Mourinho will be aiming to steer Manchester United to the Premier League title next season, with the Red Devils not having lifted the trophy since 2013.
