Journalist talks up Man United’s hopes of signing Real Madrid star
Duncan Castles feels that Man United have a solid chance of being able to sign Gareth Bale this summer
Manchester United have a much better chance of signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid this summer than in previous years, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
The Real Madrid attacker has long been linked with a move back to the Premier League ever since his big-money move to Spain from Tottenham back in 2013.
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they bid to try and build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
Bale fuelled talk of a possible move away from Real Madrid this summer when he admitted that he would be considering his future in the wake of the Champions League final.
And Sunday Times journalist Castles believes that Manchester United’s hopes of signing the 28-year-old this summer have been significantly bolstered by the fact that the attacker is actively pursuing a move away from the Spanish side this summer.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, Castles said: “This summer is different. Bale is actively pursuing a move. He was told he needed to market himself.
“He scored a lot of goals in not a lot of playing time, including two spectacular goals in the Champions League final.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United confirmed their first signing of the summer transfer window on Tuesday when they wrapped up a deal to bring Brazilian midfielder Fred to Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk.
