Shaka Hislop has admitted that he is not convinced that Manchester United fans are happy with Jose Mourinho as their manager.

The Red Devils endured a disappointing campaign last season as they ended up second in the Premier League and 19 points behind local rivals Manchester City.

Manchester United also missed out on a trophy after they were beaten by Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last month.

Mourinho has been tasked with becoming the first manager to lead Manchester United to the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

The Red Devils have spent big on a number of signings in recent summers, including the likes of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

However, former goalkeeper Hislop feels that Manchester United have a lot of work to do to win over the fans under Mourinho.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Hislop said: “Jose is a manager who promises silverware and not a lot else.

“Manchester United are used to winning silverware in a certain fashion.

“There is not a lot about Jose that is that appealing apart from that the previous two managers didn’t win silverware.”

Manchester United are likely to be on the lookout for a number of signings this summer as they look to assemble a team capable of winning the Premier League title next season.

The Red Devils won the Europa League and League Cup in Mourinho’s first campaign in charge at the club.
