The Sun is reporting that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez remains keen on trying to bring the Spanish shot-stopper to the Bernabeu, despite Zinedine Zidane having stepped down as manager last week.
The same story claims that Zidane quit after becoming frustrated by the club’s transfer policy, with the Real Madrid legend reportedly keen on bringing Eden Hazard to the Bernabeu.
Perez reportedly decided against a move for Hazard, but the president remains keen on trying to lure De Gea away from Old Trafford, according to the same story.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the shot-stopper having come within a whisker of signing for the Spanish giants back in 2015.
However, the move fell through at the final hour before he ended up signing a new deal at Old Trafford.
Despite this, De Gea has continued to be linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent seasons, and the goalkeeper has developed into one of the world’s finest shot-stoppers since his move to Old Trafford back in 2011.
