Man United warned against selling top star to Real Madrid
Ian McGarry delivers the latest update on Man United's hopes of keeping hold of David De Gea
Manchester United have been warned against selling David De Gea to Real Madrid this summer by Ian McGarry.
The Spanish shot-stopper has earned a reputation as one of European football’s top players between the posts following his brilliant form for Manchester United in recent seasons.
De Gea has long been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid and he came close to signing for the Spanish giants back in the summer of 2015 before the move fell through.
The 27-year-old is currently on international duty with Spain at the World Cup and Manchester United are believed to be keen to tie him down to a new contract at Old Trafford.
Real Madrid continue to be touted as a possible destination for the shot-stopper, but there has been no official word of a concrete bid from the Spanish side.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, McGarry said: “He is indispensable. If Man United allow him to move to Real Madrid this summer which could happen, it is a hell of a gap to fill.
“De Gea is looking at his time at Man United but what does he have to show for it?
“A handful of player of the year trophies. No Champions League medal. One Premier League title. A couple of other medals.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United have already wrapped up their first two signings of the summer transfer window after tying up deals for both Diogo Dalot and Fred.
The Red Devils will be aiming to mount a Premier League title challenge next season as they look to try and win the title for the first time since 2013.
