Manchester United have told Valencia to name their price for right-back Joao Cancelo this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Italian outlet Tuttosport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils are keen on a move for the defender as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

The 24-year-old could cost as much as £31m, according to the same story, but Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay whatever it takes to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils are believed to be on the lookout for a host of new players this summer as they look to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League next season.

And Mourinho has apparently identified the right-back position as one of the key areas he wants to strengthen this summer.

According to the same story, Manchester United also have a slight advantage in the race to sign Cancelo this summer because his agent is Jorge Mendes, who is also Mourinho’s representative and friend.

Manchester United endured something of a disappointing campaign last season when they ended up in second place in the Premier League table and without a trophy after losing the FA Cup final to Chelsea FC.
