Man United prepared to offer 22-year-old new deal – report
Man United could be set to offer Luke Shaw a new contract despite the uncertainty about his future, say reports
Manchester United could offer Luke Shaw a new contract despite the uncertainty about the left-back’s future, according to reports in the British regional media.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Red Devils could be set to hand the defender a new and improved deal despite Shaw having failed to win over Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Shaw is about to enter into the final year of his contract after Manchester United triggered a one-year extension to keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2019.
According to the same story, Manchester United have been put off by Juventus’ reported £60m valuation of Alex Sandro, causing them to put their hunt for a new left-back on hold.
The same article says that there would be some hesitancy from Shaw’s camp about whether he would be willing to accept a new contract at Old Trafford, given that he has struggled for playing time under Mourinho.
Shaw has found himself behind Ashley Young in the pecking order at Manchester United in recent months.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are likely to be on the lookout for further signings this summer as they look to build a team capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
