Man United determined not to sell 27-year-old to Real Madrid – report
Man United are determined to keep hold of David De Gea this summer say reports
Manchester United are determined to keep hold of David De Gea this summer amid interest from Real Madrid, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that Jose Mourinho does not want the 27-year-old shot-stopper to leave Old Trafford this summer despite the uncertainty about his future at the club.
The same report says that the Spain international has been in talks with Manchester United about a new contract for months, and that the goalkeeper could end up earning as much as £350,000 a week at Old Trafford.
The story says that Manchester United and De Gea’s representatives are believed to be close to reaching an agreement over a new deal, which would secure his long-term future at the club.
De Gea is no stranger to the speculation linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid, with the goalkeeper having come close to joining the Spanish side back in the summer of 2015.
However, that move fell through and he ended up signing a new contract with Manchester United.
The Red Devils will be aiming to try and challenge for the Premier League title next season after they finished in second place and without a trophy last term.
