Man United and Tottenham £20m apart in valuation of 29-year-old – report
Man United and Tottenham are still some way apart in their valuation of defender Toby Alderweireld, say reports
Manchester United and Tottenham are around £20m apart in their valuation of Toby Alderweireld, according to reports in the British media.
ESPN is reporting that the Red Devils are still negotiating with Spurs about the signing of the Belgian centre-half as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his defensive options at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old defender has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days following his lack of playing time under Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane last season.
According to the same story, Manchester United are prepared to pay around £50m for the defender, but Tottenham want a fee closer to £70m.
The same article says that Tottenham Hotspur are resigned to losing Alderweireld this summer after having failed to agree terms on a new contract with the defender.
Manchester United have already begun their summer spending spree by wrapping up deals to land both Diogo Dalot and Fred last week.
Mourinho is aiming to build a squad that will be capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season after they finished second and without a trophy last term.
The Red Devils have not won the title since 2013.
