Manchester United have been handed a possible boost as Juventus look to step up their interest in Crystal Palace full-back Patrick van Aanholt, according to a report in England.

The Sun is reporting that the Serie A champions are looking to sign the 27-year-old Netherlands international from Premier League side Crystal Palace this summer.

The same article states that Juventus are ready to offer £27m for the former Sunderland defender to bolster their options at left-back ahead of the new Serie A champion.

According to the same story, the Turin side’s interest in Van Aanholt could be interpreted as a boost for Manchester United in their pursuit of Alex Sandro.

The Red Devils have been regularly linked with a move to sign the Brazil international over the past 12 months or so.

Manchester United boss Jose Mouriho has been reluctant to use Luke Shaw in a left-back role in the Red Devils team since taking over the reins from Louis van Gaal in 2016.

Shaw has struggled to find consistency and has struggled with fitness issues to raise questions about his long-term future at Manchester United.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but finished 19 points adrift of champions Manchester City.
