Manchester United will look to insert a first refusal clause in any deal that sees Anthony Martial leave, according to a report
Manchester United will look to insert a “first refusal” clause should Anthony Martial leave Old Trafford this summer, according to a report in England.
Metro is reporting that the Red Devils are considering the potential sale of the France international in the current transfer window.
The same article states that Manchester United aren’t actively pushing the 22-year-old’s sale but the Red Devils would consider offloading Martial if the Frenchman looks to force a move this summer.
According to the same story, Manchester United will demand that the Premier League side get first refusal in any summer deal that sees Martial leave for a new challenge in the current transfer window.
Manchester United’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move to sign the French striker over the past 12 months or so, although it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils would sell to another top-four contender.
Metro suggest that the Manchester United board are worried that Martial could go to another top European club and blossom into a top player.
Martial has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot under Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese coach replaced Louis van Gaal in 2016.
