Antoine Griezmann decision will not affect Man United transfer plans – report
Antoine Griezmann's decision to remain at Manchester United will not affect the Red Devils' transfer plans, according to a report
Antoine Griezmann’s decision to stay at Atletico Madrid will not affect Manchester United’s transfer plans, according to a report in England.
The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Red Devils were not interested in signing the France international in the current transfer window despite being previously linked with a move to sign the 25-year-old.
The same article states that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho doesn’t believe a new striker is required ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign after adding proven goal-scorers Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to his squad in the past 12 months.
Griezmann confirmed his intention to stay at the Europa League holders ahead of the new season despite being linked with a switch to La Liga champions FC Barcelona over the past six months or so.
Manchester United were thought to be on the verge of signing Griezmann from Atletico last summer after the French star dropped relentless hints about an imminent switch to the Red Devils.
However, Griezmann ultimately opted to remain at Atletico after los Rojiblancos received a transfer ban from Uefa which meant manager Diego Simeone would be unable to sign a replacement for his leading striker.
Manchester United signed Lukaku in a £75m deal from Everton instead of Griezmann.
